Specimen
Right axillary lymph node, excision biopsy, single grey-brown nodule.
Clinical Information
Painless axillary swelling for three months. Demo case content.
Gross Examination
Received a single ovoid nodule measuring 2.2 × 1.5 × 1.0 cm. External surface smooth. Cut surface homogeneous, grey-white, without necrosis. Entirely submitted in two cassettes.
Microscopic Examination
Sections show lymphoid tissue with preserved architecture. Reactive follicular hyperplasia with prominent germinal centres, tingible-body macrophages and a polymorphous population. No atypical lymphoid infiltrate, granuloma or malignancy identified.
Diagnosis
Right axillary lymph node — Reactive follicular hyperplasia. No evidence of malignancy.
Comment
Findings are reactive in nature. Demonstration content for MediPath narrative reporting architecture.
Recommendation
Clinical correlation and follow-up if the swelling persists.
